ABOUT WAERLOGA RECORDS

Waerloga Records is a label/mailorder/distributor focusing on Dark Fantasy inspired music. Created in 2001 the label was first focused on Za Frûmi alone. That later on evolved and today Waerloga Records have released almost 50 bands. The conceptual idea behind the label is to release fantasy inspired music. The music could range from ambient to acoustic and be both cinematic and/or atmospheric. What brings all main artists and compilation´s we release together is that the releases have concepts to stand on. Always with a hunger to explore both elements of fantasy, including marvelous abilities, with those of horror/gothic and sometimes historical events.

A natural consequence, the term "Dark Fantasy" itself may refer collectively to tales that would more properly belong in very different genres. "Dark fantasy" is sometimes considered a variant of the horror genre, but the opposite is often the case. Horror fiction where the threat is of supernatural origin can be considered dark fantasy. However, dark fantasy also includes stories about dark supernatural creatures (frequently vampires) depicted as potentially sympathetic beings with human motivations. In the case of Za Frûmi they focused at first on the Orc and wanted to bring that creature alive and be more than just fighters. Dark Fantasy could also tend more towards fantasy and in that context refers to stories that focus on darker themes, sometimes akin to those of horror, but which take place in a setting more alike sword and sorcery or high fantasy. There is a strong overlap between this style of fantasy and sword and sorcery, due to the often bleak, pessimistic tones, and moral ambiguity (especially when compared to the more dualistic themes of high fantasy).

The music we release have been called many things such as: Fantasy music, Neoclassical, Medieval, Alternative, Dark Ambient, Ambient, Cinematic, Soundscapes, Avant-garde, Weird, Odd, Dark, Classical, Folk, Radio-Theatre, Viking music, Soundtrack, Darkwave, Gothic, Ritualistic, Spoken word, World music, Symphonic, Musique Concrete, Art music, Dark Orchestral and Esoteric.
